The RG2 and RG4 incremental encoders have had an excellent reputation for many years thanks to their reliable and robust position feedback in a wide range of applications. However, Renishaw is constantly developing innovative incremental and absolute encoder technologies; our latest sensors offer a number of other benefits, including improved metrology, smaller dimensions, easier installation and detailed diagnostics. Therefore, the RG2 and RG4 series are not recommended for new designs.
